A Buyers Guide For School Uniforms

In many cases, a uniform is superior to a regular dress code. Of course, that concept is now changing as more schools both the public and parochial ones are seeing the advantages of a uniform. In addition, you will be able to clearly distinguish your students from those from other schools. Believe it or not, studies have shown that uniforms worn in schools actually promote an aura and atmosphere where positive concentration and behavior is prevalent within the educational locale. 1. Uniforms are positive For this reason, arguments every morning on what and what not to wear are immediately nipped in the bud when uniforms are worn instead of designer shirts, expensively branded shoes, etc. Focus is now put on a students talents and abilities than in their current status, socio-economic wise. The following are tips and basic advice in buying school uniforms. 2. It is not that expensive Contrary to popular belief, uniforms are less expensive than school regular clothes. This fact is according to the magazine USA Today. It has been shown that in 1998, school parents have spent about an average of one hundred eighty five dollars for each child. These dollars directly went to the purchasing of non-uniform clothes. Compare this to the one hundred four dollars spent for each child for a school uniform. The change from a non-uniformed student to a uniformed one could be achieved gradually. This is done by providing a period for the transition. Believe it or not, uniforms also enhance the feeling of children as belonging to an academic setting. The school tone is then set where the child easily perceives the school as a place where learning takes place and achievement both academic or otherwise is possible. Think of the way children seem to act in their Sunday best when they are in their church clothes. The same concept could also apply with school uniforms. 3. Measure, measure and measure Nothing is as frustrating than a uniform that does not fit. It is always best therefore to measure a child early on in order to get the uniform that fits your child best. Of course, try to also leave an allowance of sorts as to when your child adds that additional inch or two in height. Kids grow fast it seems, and it is just as practical and inexpensive in the long run, to foresee such changes and adequately prepare for it. 4. Quality fabrics are the way to go As much as possible, try to select fabrics that are of good quality. It is best if the uniforms you choose are readily washable by machine and requires little effort in ironing them. Quality fabrics do not get destroyed when they are put in the washer dryer. They also wash easily and last a bit longer. This eventually saves you a lot of time and money in the long run. Remember, good clothes could provide years of quality wear and could just as also be handed down to a childs younger sister or brother. Economizing on quality does not work and could, ironically, be a lot more expensive in the long-term. 5. Buy at least three or five more shirts or blouses It depends on how often the uniforms will be used, but in general if you want fresh clothes every day you must have several copies of the same uniform pieces. It is always best to have extra shirts or blouses available just in case one has been spilled on by chocolate milk shake. You should also have some extras in all available sizes inside the office.
