How Do You Rent a Wedding Gown?
Your wedding dress is undoubtedly one of the most important items in your wedding. It will cost you quite a lot of money if you are going to buy a new one. To this end you may consider renting a gown instead of buying one. In fact it does not only save money but also save our environment.
When you are renting your gown, you will need to pay attention to some issues otherwise you may end up with spending extra on renting the gown. Below are some of the points you have to bear in mind.
It will be better if you can place your order to rent the gown six months before your wedding because it will take some time to have the gown altered to fit your body. It is especially important if you are placing your order in peak seasons. It will be a pity if you rent the gown too late such that there is not enough time for the necessary alternations.
Besides, you should check the gown carefully with the staff of the wedding dress shop. You should pay extra attention on any dirt and damage on the wedding gown. Even if you find the dirt or damages are acceptable, you should request to drop notes on all these problems on the dress on the contract you are going to sign in order to prevent arguments when you return the gown to the shop.
The above step is even more important if you would like to save money. The rent of an older gown is usually lower. However, an older wedding dress can usually mean a dress in a worse condition since it may have been worn for many times. There may probably be more dirt and damages on such a gown and it is certain that you will just end up with arguing with the shop if you do not check the gown carefully and drop notes about all the dirt and damages.
If possible, you should also avoid having others to pick the wedding dress for you. You should spend the time to pick it yourself so that you can try to put the gown on before you really pick it. You can request for alterations right the way if it does not fit. If you do not try the dress before you pick it and find that it does not fit after going home, you may just end up with arguing with the wedding dress shop.
The best time to pick the gown is a few days before your big day. If you really find that the wedding dress does not fit, you can still allow the shop a few days to alter the dress for you.
Lastly, you will also need to ask about the penalties if you damage the gown. The penalties will certainly be different for different shops. Again, you have to request the staff of the shop to write down clearly the penalties may involve if you damage the gown. As in the case of the dirt and damages, you are doing this in order to prevent unnecessary arguments when you return the wedding dress to the shop.
