Role of a Good Wedding DJ

Weddings DJ's have had a dramatic increase in their responsibility and role at a Wedding reception. Nowadays, they are a key part in the success of a wedding reception and ceremony. This tends to pose many questions. What are the differences between a wedding coordinator and a modern wedding DJ? Perhaps you would like to know more about their responsibility levels as well. There are many things that a Wedding DJ does to run the itinerary of events in modern receptions in addition to the work done by the coordinator. As these professions continue to evolve, we are sure to see more consistency in these responsibilities.

Typically a wedding coordinator is your backbone for the day of preparation for the bride and groom. It is their job to make sure that the bridesmaids are taken care of in getting ready for the ceremony as well as running the actual logistics of walking down the aisle and leaving the ceremony site in the proper formation. This is something that typically a Wedding DJ is not responsible for.

Sometimes a DJ is hired to play music for the ceremony and the reception, in order to provide a microphone for the wedding officiant. This is usually coordinated by wedding coordinator and sometimes the wedding DJ will assist, to make sure that everything goes as smoothly as possible. Generally, this is the time in the event that a DJ would be wise to let the coordinator do most of planning and coordination.

After the ceremony is over and the guests move on to appetizers and drinks for cocktail hour, the wedding party including the bride and groom will typically move off with the photographer to a photogenic location for pictures. Once this is done the wedding coordinator and the DJ will work together to make sure that the grand entrance or complete wedding party entrance is done smoothly as the cast of the wedding is announced. After the announcement is finished the guests will return to mingling as the bride and groom and the rest of the guests get ready for some dinner.

After the introductions are finished and dinner is served, there is a transition in responsibility. The wedding DJ has already helped plan an entertainment itinerary for the guests and it is their job to see to it that it is completed and that the guests are having a great time. It is best for a wedding coordinator to realize this and to let them take the more active role in coordinating the events, from here on out. An experienced entertainer will have a constant progression of energy to keep the guests interested in whats going on and ultimately, staying to have a good time and enjoy all of the hard work of putting together the reception. This etiquette is extremely important to having a successful wedding reception.
